Take control of a shipwrecked survivor in the land of Hell's Cradle.
From your first half-drowned footsteps on a sun-blasted beach, to building a hut out of blocks of sod, to leading a charge against a force of ogres, to the head of a powerful young nation, every step is yours to take.
Find survivors, gather resources, draw up blueprints, train your citizens, explore ancient ruins, nurture relations with the natives, fight off monstrosities, and build a nation anyone would be proud to call home.
I have been developing Townseed since August 2011 in my spare time during evenings and weekends, writing the engine from scratch in XNA, making the art myself with Gimp. I already possess the expertise and the equipment I need to complete the project, it is just a matter of how much time I can devote to it, so after some deliberation I have decided that I will leave my career in animation and film behind in order to pursue one in gaming.
I humbly ask for your help to do so.
My current funding goal for this project is $8000. This will cover my personal expenses for approximately six months, while allowing me to work on Townseed full-time and to fulfill the reward bonuses. I will commit to weekly progress updates, as well as incremental builds for people who have claimed that particular perk.
A portion of the funds will be used for a modest ongoing advertising campaign to raise interest in the project, hopefully bringing in more support and preorders.
A portion of the funds will be used for music licensing. At this time my intention is to license all tracks for the game from Magnatune.com. Their rates are reasonable and their policies agreeable. The track in my video is "Murder Machine" by Saros, licensed for use in this fundraising campaign, and it just one of the excellent tracks I intend to include in the game's soundtrack.
If funding exceeds the goal, from $8000 to $16000, I will "pay forward" my monthly expenses so that I can continue to support ongoing work on the project. One full year of work on a full-time basis is what I expect will be needed to complete the project.
Additional funds from $16000 to $24000 will be used to secure additional music licenses, and to upgrade existing ones (as music licenses limit the number of copies I may sell).
If I am so fortunate that funds exceed this amount, I will put them toward updates after the game is released, and eventually they will spill over into my next game project.
